Q: Why do some of the posts on this anthropology blog look like ads? Are you trying to sell me something?
A: No! Some of the recent posts on this blog are reviews of different products or services such as gadgets and gear that might be useful for academic research or field work. Other reviews, like the series on eyeglasses, are part of an ongoing ethnographic project in consumer anthropology looking at online consumerism and how the online review process alters the relationship between companies and the general public.
My review of Nick Dines' Tuff City: Urban Change and Contested Space in Central Naples is available via the Open Anthropology Cooperative Press. You can read/download the full review here and discuss it over at the OAC.
