Q: Why do some of the posts on this anthropology blog look like ads? Are you trying to sell me something?
A: No! Some of the recent posts on this blog are reviews of different products or services such as gadgets and gear that might be useful for academic research or field work. Other reviews, like the series on eyeglasses, are part of an ongoing ethnographic project in consumer anthropology looking at online consumerism and how the online review process alters the relationship between companies and the general public.
My own view is that some of the truly myopic and ethnocentric comments made at MNBC in response to these photos show why anthropology is needed, now as much as ever.
There is nothing more bizarre about this snake ritual than dunking babies' heads in water at baptism, or cutting the little wee wees off baby boys at circumcision (and making a party out of it).

Yep - That should be anthropology's official tag line. :)
